In the movie Are You Here, Ben Baker and Steve Dallas are two friends leading very different lives. Ben is a man-child who spends most of his time getting high on his friend's couch, while Steve is a moderately successful weather reporter who lives a superficial life.
Their lives take an unexpected turn when Ben receives news of his father's death. Steve accompanies him on the journey back home, where they reconnect with Ben's successful and driven sister Terri, as well as their hippie step-mother Angela, who happens to be the same age as them.
