Successful businesswoman Kate Holbrook, at 37, decides it's finally time to have a baby. However, she learns that she has a million-to-one chance of getting pregnant on her own. Undeterred, she enlists the help of South Philly working girl Angie Ostrowiski as her surrogate. Once Angie becomes pregnant, Kate goes into full-on nesting mode, preparing for the baby's arrival by reading childcare books, baby-proofing her apartment, and researching top pre-schools.

However, Kate's well-organized plans are thrown into chaos when Angie shows up at her doorstep with no place to live. The two women, with very different personalities and lifestyles, clash as Kate tries to mold Angie into the perfect expectant mom. In the midst of their battle of wills, they both learn about the different types of family: the one you are born into and the one you create.
