Details

In the year 2022, planet Earth is experiencing severe overpopulation and pollution. Natural resources are completely depleted, leaving the majority of the population reliant on Soylent Industries for nourishment. Soylent Industries produces a food product made from plankton harvested from the oceans. When a prominent member of Soylent's board, William R. Simonson, is mysteriously murdered in his luxurious apartment at Chelsea Towers West in New York City, Detective Thorn and his partner Sol Roth are assigned to the case.

Thorn begins his investigation and interviews the people present at the crime scene, including Simonson's bodyguard Tab Fielding, Shirl (a woman who is effectively rented along with the apartment), and other tenants of the building. Thorn soon realizes that Simonson's death was not a random act of burglary, but a carefully planned execution.

As Thorn delves deeper into the case, he faces increasing pressure from powerful figures, including Governor Santini, who want to derail his investigation. Despite the obstacles, Thorn persists and uncovers a shocking and disturbing secret about the main ingredient used in the production of Soylent Green. This discovery threatens to expose the corruption and cruelty behind the mass production of food and poses a grave danger to Thorn and those close to him.

As the truth unravels, Thorn is faced with difficult choices and must determine whether to protect himself or to ensure that the truth is brought to light, no matter the consequences. Soylent Green is a thought-provoking and suspenseful film that sheds light on the consequences of overpopulation and the ethical implications of mass food production.
