Be Kind Rewind

Be Kind Rewind takes place in Passaic, New Jersey, where Elroy Fletcher runs a video store in a building that he claims was the birthplace of Fats Waller. When Fletcher goes on a Waller centennial trip, he leaves his foster son Mike in charge of the store. However, things take a turn for the worse when Mike's peculiar friend Jerry accidentally magnetizes himself and erases every tape in the store.

In an effort to hide the disaster from Fletcher, Mike and Jerry come up with a plan to create homemade versions of popular films, starting with Ghostbusters. They intend to rent these homemade movies to a woman whom Fletcher will be calling to check on them. Surprisingly, their homemade films start gaining a cult following and bring much-needed attention to the store.

As the success of their homemade films grows, their business becomes a lifeline for the store and the condemned building it is in. The question remains: will their creative venture be enough to save the store and the building? And what about the legacy of Fats Waller?
